Catering & Hospitality NVQ Level 1The Catering & Hospitality NVQ level 1 consists of a wide range of sessions, both practical and theory based. These units will provide you with recognised qualifications that will assist you with employment or provide you with a platform to progress to the next qualification level. Depending on where you take the course, you might be placed at a restaurant for at least one day of the week. On this placement, you will be preparing and serving meals to customers. In addition, you will learn valuable communication and information technology skills that relate to catering. These skills will help you to convert recipe measurements as well as presenting high standard menus. In addition to working in the restaurant, you may have food skills classes that help you master specific food preparation and cooking skills. There is much less pressure in the classes than in the restaurant. Some of the dishes you may practice include making bread, cakes, soup and seafood. Entry requirements for Catering NVQ Level 1You will be required to hold at least 1 grade D and 2 grade Es at GCSE including Maths or English.After you complete the courseThe catering and hospitality NVQ will give you the basic knowledge and skills to prepare and cook a range of dishes and also enhance your skills in communications. You will obtain a basic food hygiene certificate and Level 1 NVQ qualification. These qualifications will assist you with gaining employment in a variety of jobs in the catering industry. |
